Position Description
The Centralized Scheduler is responsible for scheduling surgeries, appointments and procedures at the request of physicians and customers. Responsible for transcribing and scanning all orders and H&P's into the electronic medical record. Responsible for maintaining scheduling related work queues. Responsible for "schegistration" of patients, which includes verification of insurance benefits & eligibility. Responsible for initiating medical necessity checking on surgeries, appointments and/or procedures. Assures the specific needs of department, physician and customers are meet. Providing assistance and direction to physicians, their staff and other hospital personnel with whatever needs they may have. Maintains the master physician listing for use by the medical center. Working closely with departments on new procedures and requirements to ensure compliance and proper reimbursement. Lives the Mission, Vision, Values and Philosophy of the department and Saint Francis Medical Center. Constantly works with and maintains restricted or confidential information from many sources within the medical center. Any and all duties as assigned by the Assistant Manager, Manager and/or Director.

Quality Service - Consistently provides a high degree of quality service. Provides timely response to inquiries and communication to physician offices and customers.

Completing Demographics - Consistently achieves a 95% or more on obtaining accurate and thorough demographic and payer information allowing for benefit verification prior to scheduled surgery, appointment or procedure.

Scheduling and scheduling applications - Works to obtain accurate and thorough information on physicians/referral physicians/nurse practitioners/physician assistants. Updates the scheduling application within 48 hours of request. Works at the direction of Assistant Manager to maintain/update scheduling application to ensure accuracy and thoroughness. Willingness to gain knowledge to improve self and position.

Time management - Consistently strives to set priorities for efficient and productive use of time. Performs additional work load with little or no assistance from co-workers. Prioritizes workflow to eliminate patient delay. Demonstrates wise use of down time.

Work queues - Consistently completes items within 48 hours of being placed in assigned work queue.
Position Requirements
Degree/Diploma: High School Diploma

Additional Skills & Experience Requirements:
Minimum of one year in a medical environment which included scheduling duties. Medical terminology or prior Administrative Partner experience. Professional and courteous manners in dealing with customers. Appropriate and timely independent judgment. Computer experience required.
