Position Description

Coordinate and complete programming requests, plan efficient systems with users, maintain existing applications and aid in the general availability of data to those who require it in order to perform their own duties.

Other Skills and/or Knowledge Required: Basic Information Systems operations and relationships between hardware, OS software, Application software, data files and use of these tools to fulfill user needs.

Assists in procurement of application software. - Understands marketing techniques and can accurately interpret software based on its merits. Follows selection criteria for Information Systems and can interpret effectively.

Searches for new application ideas for assigned departments and/or users. - Thinks of improved ways of doing the job effectively and keeps up with industry trends. Embraces ways to assist users and takes advantage of new technological changes.

Serves as Application Project Leader for departments and/or assigned applications. - Can take ownership and embraces the scope of a new project. Can effectively work with users to keep project organized and successfully brings new projects live.

Performs Necessary Program Changes. - Accepts modification requests from user and makes programming changes if necessary. Tries to determine that this is the last alternative without compromising user needs.

Installs New Release Upgrades when appropriate for assigned departments and/or applications. - Performs work necessary to install release upgrades and do appropriate testing so that applications are disrupted at a minimal level.

Understands Assigned Department Processes - Understands Assigned Department Processes, their IT needs, their current applications, potential new applications and takes ownership in achieving the needed goals with little supervision. Can assist the Director of Information Technology in preparation of the IT Strategic Plan as it relates to areas of responsibilities.

Position Requirements

Educational Requirements: BS Degree or specialized System Analyst Training.

Additional Skills & Experience Requirements: At least 2 years experience as a System Analyst or Programmer in a hospital setting, preferably at Saint Francis Medical Center or with assigned applications.
