Position Description

Under the direct supervision of the Assistant Manager of Health and Fitness, the Personal Trainer is responsible for their client's physical assessments, exercise prescription and motivation as well as policy enforcement, record keeping and delivering excellent customer service at all times to every member.

Health risk Appraisals - Schedules and administers computerized Health Risk Appraisals and Physical Fitness Assessments to new and existing clients at least three times per year and keeps a record in clients' file.

Individualized exercise programs - Based on assessment results and client goals, prescribes individual exercise programs that follow the guidelines adopted by Fitness Plus.

Trainers log - Maintains a record in trainers log of past and present clients’ attendance and payments.

Current information and promotions - Maintains current information on all club programs, services, and activities and promotes regularly to members to motivate and enhance consistency and member retention.

Exercise equipment Maintenance - Follows established procedure when exercise equipment is found to be malfunctioning in an effort to get the equipment operational within 24 hours. This involves posting of the appropriate status signage, notifying the Coordinator and recording the problem in the equipment log.

Position Requirements

Educational Requirements: Bachelor's degree in exercise physiology, exercise science, physical education or other related discipline.

Certification/Licensure Requirements: Additional ACSM, ACE, NSCA, AFAA or related certification required. Current American Heart Association CPR certification.

Additional Skills & Experience Requirements: Experience in the administration of physical assessments, exercise prescriptions and program development. Basic computer operational skills preferred. Excellent communication and customer services skills required. Ability to work variable hours necessary. Possess a professional attitude and appearance. Must be capable of maintaining positive ongoing communications.
