|The Clinical Analyst I is a clinical professional who demonstrates base knowledge and experience in the development and maintenance of the clinical application(s) used by the Saint Francis Healthcare System Clinical and technical skills are required for this position, which reports to the Manager, IT Clinical Application Services. This individual is involved in designing and building application(s) according to end user needs; collaborating with other analysts, clinical leaders and training resources; supporting ongoing operations and participating in ongoing maintenance and system upgrades.|
|Bachelor of Science in Nursing or a Registered Nurse who graduated from an approved professional nursing program; current licensure in the State of Missouri; or 2. An allied health professional, such as Physical Therapist, Occupational Therapist or Speech/Language Pathologist; or
3. Bachelor’s degree in business, computer science, or related field with at least 2 years of relevant work experience, or (4) years of relevant experience within a related field, will also be accepted in lieu of the Bachelor’s degree. Master’s Degree is Preferred, but not required.
Additional Certification/Licensure Requirements
Additional IT related certification may be required. (i.e. additional areas of expertise, project management, or other post-secondary education degree)
Application Build and Configuration
Possesses an excellent working knowledge of administrator-level functions for assigned application(s). Assists subject matter experts and other project staff in workflow design. May be called upon to analyze existing daily operations as they relate to system build decisions. May assist in the analyses of workflows, data collection and report details to help shape system build and configuration decisions. Understands the choices involved in application configuration, and builds/configures the system according to agreed upon end user needs. Works according to assigned portions of the project plan to complete build and configuration tasks within defined timeframes.
System Administration and Maintenance
Maintains ongoing contact with end users to ensure assigned application(s) are functioning optimally to support day-to-day operations. Troubleshoots software problems as appropriate and seeks Vendor support as needed via direct contact or through submission of issue tickets. Holds administrator-level system privileges and performs functions that may include, but are not limited to: creating and configuring new end user accounts, building and revising chart templates, configuring end user functions for various security levels, managing software change requests that come from end users, assisting trainers and other clinical leaders in understanding new end user functionality contained within system releases, receives problems and questions from end users and works with report writers to understand the various data sources required to populate meaningful reports
Application Testing and System Upgrades
Assists in thorough testing according to the project plan before initial releases are pushed to the production environment. Reviews system releases that affect assigned application(s), tests release updates in a test environment and assists in the coordination of the release. May work with Vendor representatives to schedule and coordinate software updates and changes. Analyzes the new functionality in releases and may assist the SFHS staff, to provide end user training in the development of training materials.
Project Management Approach
Works within defined role to complete assigned portions of the overall integrated EMR project. May be required to attend regular workgroup and other committee meetings as well as provide updates on achievement of project milestones. May require the use of project management tools.
Stays abreast of changes in assigned Epic application(s), which may require maintenance of Vendor certifications. May be asked to pursue certification in multiple applications as the need arises.
Is aware of the organization's strategic direction for use of integrated applications from a Clinical Information Systems perspective and understands the overall goals of the global information strategy as well as the goals of the organization. Remains current on the status of issues in the healthcare industry related to Meaningful Use, Healthcare Reform and the regulatory impact on the use of digital Clinical Information.
