Position Description

The Medical Records Clerk is responsible for all the administrative duties for all medical records and ensures completeness and compliance with Government rules and regulations, licensure agencies and TJC guidelines.

Answers phone - Answers the telephone and routes requests to proper staff members in accordance with established guidelines.

Pulls Health info from portal - Accurately pulls health information from hospital portals and distributes appropriately to clinical staff via physical chart or tasked through the EMR.

Scans and links - Scans and links all health information documentation with near 100% accuracy.

Requests for medical records - Appropriately handles requests for medical records releases in accordance with Saint Francis Medical Center Policies and government regulations.

Maintains logs - Maintains logs as needed including the "charts made log", "retired charts log", and "CVC transfer log".

Completes tasks - Completes any and all tasks as requested by management that the employee is qualified to perform.

Position Requirements

Degree/Diploma: High School Diploma

Additional Educational Requirements: Related secretarial courses and medical terminology preferred.

Additional Skills & Experience Requirements: Two years experience in an health information environment preferred.
