Highly successful risk managers share many of the same characteristics. They possess a sound understanding of the organization’s vision and mission, deep knowledge of the core business and are skilled relationship builders. Often, they are system-thinkers and quickly understand interrelated risks across complex organizations, are attuned to the risks that impact strategy and performance and easily identify opportunities for an integrated, holistic approach. Exceptional communicators, risk managers provide independent advice and oversight on how risks are managed, with confidence and a proactive spirit.

Working with senior management the ERM Manager will contribute to the development of a strategic vision for the ERM program, including governance, reporting, tools, analytics, metrics and dashboards. They will also focus on reporting for a broad array of bottom-up investment and non-investment risks that may impact AIMCo’s ability to effectively execute its corporate mandate and achieve its goals. Professionally curious, the ERM Manager will remain abreast of emerging changes and trends within the investment industry.

Responsibilities will include:
• Partnering with business departments to provide education, training, tools and methodologies to identify and measure investment and non-investment risks
• Preparing comprehensive ERM reports
• Providing thought leadership to support the adoption of leading risk management practices at AIMCo
• Contributing to a culture of risk awareness and transparency

Year One Success will be based upon the ERM Manager’s ability to create and identify key risk metrics. The ERM Manager will also contribute to a risk management mindset throughout the organization and contribute to evolving AIMCo’s risk management practices to the desired level of maturity. Overtime, the ERM Manager will focus on developing key risk thresholds.

Our Ideal Candidate
• Possesses a Bachelor’s degree in a related field
• Holds a minimum of 7 years’ relevant experience in comprehensive enterprise risk management ideally within investment management organization or experience working in investment management, risk or investment operations
• Uses quantitative (scenario analysis, stress testing) and qualitative approaches (impact and likelihood) to measuring risks as well as designing key risk indicators
• Communicates with a high degree of sophistication and has demonstrated experience preparing senior management or board reports
• Influences senior management and peers, is comfortable speaking up and providing counterbalance, while simultaneously maintaining collaborative relationships
• Takes initiative, quickly grasps new concepts and has determination
• Possesses experience with eGRC, Sharepoint and PowerBI software
• Adapts when faced with a need for change and responsive to shifts in priorities and deadlines
• Thrives when exploring new, faster or better approaches to improving performance but equally as comfortable working within established processes
• Coaches, manages and mentors direct or indirect team members to new levels of personal and team success
• Encourages and supports a risk culture committed to continuous improvement
