Position Summary

Highly successful Accounting Administrators share many of the same characteristics. They are exceptionally organized and plan out their work effectively. As the successful Accounting Administrator, you will contribute to the financial security of Albertans by ensuring the completion of daily operations related to the settlement of complex private investment transactions. You will be directly working with a specific Illiquid Asset class (Infrastructure and Timber; Private Equity; Private Debt) and have exposure to other asset classes.

You will be highly involved in daily transaction processing, maintenance of various investment reconciliations, month-end and quarter-end reporting, operational procedures and audit checklists.

Other responsibilities will include:

  • Initiate and close transactions related to AIMCo's private investment portfolios
  • Process invoices and record the transactions in AIMCo’s system
  • Update and maintain underlying investment data for Valuation purpose in AIMCo’s systems
  • Prepare reconciliations and month-end reporting packages
  • Perform ad-hoc analysis as requested by the manager or internal clients
  • Maintain and track of documentation requirements on all private investment transactions for processing and back-up
  • Provide financial statement data to our internal Corporate Tax group for tax compliance purposes
  • Resolve issues and make decisions under strict deadlines to ensure proper and timely resolution to problems inherent in the Private Investment Portfolios.

​​​In 12 months, success will be based on the candidate’s ability to independently carry out tasks and assignments and well as solving problems related to private investment accounting, reconciliation and reporting. The Administrator will be the subject matter expert for private investment transactions and Simcorp Dimension alternative investment functions.   

Our Ideal Candidate
  • Undergraduate degree in Investment, Accounting, Finance or experience in a related field is required.
  • Working towards or completion of an accounting designation is an asset (CPA)
  • Knowledge of various types of investment products. Specific knowledge of illiquid asset classes such as Infrastructure, Timber, Private Equity, and Private Debt would be an asset.
  • Intermediate or above average skills with the Microsoft Office software suite
  • Ability to work independently, solve problems and make decisions under strict deadlines
  • Excellent communication skills dealing with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with strong multitasking and organizational skills.
