They support one another through challenges and enthusiastically celebrate team accomplishments. Often, they are in the process of enrolling into the CFA program or have already started.

As the successful Analyst, External Funds you will assist the team in managing the Public Equities External Funds program which is responsible for approximately $16 Billion of AIMCo’s total assets under management. Playing a key role, you will contribute to the broader External Funds team by researching, analysing and evaluating fund managers and performing due diligence. Leveraging your strong database skills and attention to detail you will use Barra, Factset, Style Research, Bloomberg, OPERA, eVestment and other tools to monitor positions and produce reports. Daily, you will aggregate data and proactively monitor all AIMCo external funds. You will be coached and developed to oversee several existing relationships and prospective external managers.


Responsibilities

  • Perform qualitative and quantitative analysis to understand the impact and/or complementary nature of various fund investments
  • Liaise with internal Operational, Legal, Accounting and Performance teams
  • Help prepare Public Equity reports and information for both internal and external parties
  • Identify opportunities for improvement within the database for all performance data, including monitoring cash flows and returns to complete monthly reports
  • Oversee the document flow for the External Management investments


Year One Success will be achieved by demonstrating a deep understanding of AIMCo operations, completing one or two pieces of research and developing corresponding relationships.
 

Our Ideal Candidate
  • Bachelor's Degree in Commerce, Business, Finance, or another related field
  • 1+ years of relevant experience, with a strong understanding of finance, accounting, and business concepts
  • Enrollment or willingness to enrol in the CFA program
  • Exceptional research, analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal skills
  • Highly proficient with MS Applications
  • Thrives under pressure and enjoys contributing to team goals
  • Knowledge of programming and databases would be helpful
  • Experience with Bloomberg, Factset, Barra, eVestment, Style Research, or Capital IQ would be considered an asset
