Position Summary
AIMCo’s Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) program utilizes both a top-down and bottom-up risk management approach. The Manager will be responsible for bottom-up risk assessments which entails using a consistent approach to lead business departments in identifying, assessing, analyzing, responding to, monitoring and reporting on a broad array of investment and non-investment risks that may impact AIMCo’s ability to effectively execute our corporate mandate and achieve our objectives.

The Manager will partner with AIMCo’s business departments by providing education, training, tools and methodologies, effective challenge and advice on departmental top risks. Additionally, the Manager will ensure that these departments, on a go-forward basis, are 1) continually identifying, assessing, mitigating and managing their current, new and emerging risks; 2) able to withstand or undergo unexpected shocks and events that might be detrimental to or adversely impact AIMCo, and 3) have early warning metrics to monitor these risks.

The Manager will provide thought leadership with respect to embedding leading risk management practices at AIMCo. This position is also key to establishing an appropriate risk management mindset throughout the organization and bring AIMCo’s risk management practices to the desired level of maturity.

The Manager will examine and investigate enterprise systems, methodologies, governance, controls, and processes, advise on alternative mitigation strategies, and recommend thresholds and tolerances. Additionally, the Manager will also oversee the risk library and ERM module within AIMCo’s Governance Risk and Compliance software.
Our Ideal Candidate
  • Degree in Business, or related field
  • 7-10 years’ of Enterprise Risk Management experience
  • Knowledgeable in enterprise risk frameworks, theory, practices, methodologies, metrics
  • Understanding of the economic environment in which AIMCo operates
  • Experience preparing reports and developing strategy with senior management
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including risk workshop facilitation experience
  • Strong analytical skills, with exposure to SharePoint, Power BI and MetricStream an asset
  • Proficient with Microsoft Applications (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Exceptional attention to detail, and an ability to manage multiple tasks and work under pressure to meet deadlines
  • Effective organizational, time management and communication skills
