Position Summary

Please note: This is a 1-year fixed-term position. 

 

Functioning within a team environment and broadly defined objectives, the Analyst, Business Intelligence will be involved in gathering the requirements, design and testing phases of the report development lifecycle for assigned reports /projects to ensure delivery of quality reports.

 

This position is a hybrid role that will enable the Analyst to work across several different teams, each having specific needs and uses for data reporting and visualization.

 

Analyst will work closely with project teams to assess, define, and implement improved reporting capabilities for unique user requirements as they arise. Over time, the individual will be expected to evolve their role to lead users from simple, pre-existing business intelligence solutions to forward-looking “what’s next” capabilities using more advanced predictive and prescriptive methods.

 

Responsibilities Include: 

 

  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to define business requirements; identify and recommend potential data sources and solutions
  • Design and build intuitive user interface analytics and visualization solutions
  • Empower users through self-service visualization, modeling and reporting capabilities
  • Quantitatively proficient. Design & build models using data mining & analytics tools like SSAS, R, Python etc.
  • Build and manage a repository of re-usable data visualization templates and views
  • Develop & facilitate best practices use of BI tools, visuals and applications.
  • Follows appropriate incident, problem, change management, and project processes.
  • Cross-training other team members and employees on new reporting and business intelligence tools and functionality
  • Perform troubleshooting activities like debugging to address / resolve user queries, requests and problems on a timely basis.
  • Support activities to document, evolve, and communicate artifacts developed.
  • Ensure adherence to data management/data governance regulations and policies.

 

Our Ideal Candidate
  • 2+ years of background developing BI solutions and data visualizations using PowerBI , Spotfire, SSRS etc.,  preferably in financial services / investment industry.
  • Proficient knowledge of Power BI, Business Intelligence stack (SSRS, SSIS, SSAS), Microsoft Visual Studio, TIBCo Spotfire, Office 365, SharePoint online etc.
  • Solid understanding of BI data modeling concepts using disparate data sources (SQL Server 2016, Oracle,  CSV, Emails etc.) through to BI solution
  • Basic understanding of machine learning (regularization, model training, at a minimum a desire to learn)
  • Familiar with Data Visualization best practices
  • Familiar with Business Intelligence tools, concepts, and methods/processes
  • Experience with Office 365 (SharePoint Online, Sway, Flow etc.) a plus.
  • Degree in math, statistics, computer science, other quantitative discipline with strong business background.
