Position Summary

The Security Architect is responsible for ensuring that AIMCo's systems, data, and people are protected from cyber security threats at all times. The incumbant will also be responsible for helping to set the strategic direction for AIMCo's Information Security program by evaluating current strengths and weaknesses in the program, including developing and executing on plans to address gaps in the current program.

Additionally, the Security Architect must be highly technical and work closely with the other members of the AIMCo security team to ensure that appropriate safeguards are functioning correctly including anti-virus, firewalls, IPS/IDS systems, vulnerability assessment systems, and security information and event management systems. They will also ensure they are aware and up-to-date on the current security landscape and changing threats to our organization.

Working with a number of teams within the firm, this person will help ensure that the security systems in place are operating effectively and efficiently. They will work closely with the team of Security Analysts tp select the right solutions, implement those solutions and provide ongoing support.

Other responsibilities will include:

  • Evaluation of the existing information security program to identify gaps and work with management and the internal security team to implement new controls.
  • Ensuring that the performance of the information security program at AIMCo is appropriately measured and reported on to provide an accurate view of our security posture.
  • Design and implement information security systems to protect AIMCo's systems, data and people against cyber security attacks.
  • Planning for the delivery of security solutions, answering technical and procedural questions, and providing guidance as required.
  • Monitoring and responding to information security alerts and incidents. This includes monitoring various security systems including SIEM, IPS, web and e-mail content filtering and others.
  • Reviewing tickets and changes assigned to the information security team using sound judgment to respond or escalate as required.
  • Maintaining organizational security by monitoring and ensuring compliance to standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Understanding emerging security practices and standards; keeping abreast of the latest security trends.       
  • Performing other operational duties as required on all security related systems for which they are responsible.
Our Ideal Candidate
  • Five to ten years of experience in Information Security.
  • University degree or technical diploma in Computer Science or related program from an accredited post-secondary institution preferred.
  • Recognized professional Information Security certification (500 or 600 level GIAC certification, CISSP, OSCP, etc.)
  • Familiar with the CIS Critical Security Controls and their implementation.
  • Knowledge of secure computer programming is highly valuable (the specific language is irrelevant; the basics of memory allocation, function calls, and process flow control are more important).
  • Experience with implementing an SSDLC.
  • Proficient technical, analytical, and problem solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to interact and build strong relationships with all levels of the organization.
  • Knowledge and discipline to document processes and applications.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously within established time constraints.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
  • Effective time management, project management, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to respond professionally in situations with difficult employee/vendor/customer issues or inquiries.
  • Knowledge of computer networking fundamentals, theory and practice (IPv4, IPv6, routing, switching, OSI model); CCNP level knowledge highly valuable.)
