Position Summary

The Investment Finance Department is responsible for performing highly specialized accounting and financial reporting functions across a multi-layered investment pool structure for AIMCO’s clients.  This department provides accounting guidance to internal and external clients in their on-going financial reporting and statutory audits, as well as providing the accounting support for all projects and initiatives as needed by Management and the Board to deliver following mandates:

 

  • Accounting System Setup Oversight - Manage AIMCO accounting policies and oversee accounting configuration in all systems to ensure compliance with various accounting regulatory frameworks by providing UAT support and approval on all accounting system and operational process changes. 
  • NAV Production Oversight – Oversee input to NAV production and execute units and in-kind transfers within AIMCO pool structure.
  • NAV Validation and Error Reporting - Provide daily accounting validation and oversee the reporting and resolution of accounting errors.
  • Client Accounting  and Financial Reporting Support  - Provide accounting guidance and support to financial reporting.

 

Please Note: For purposes related to business efficiency, this is a new full -time position with a start time of 12:00 pm.

 

Reporting to the Manager of Investment Finance, the Senior Analyst is responsible for:

 

  • Driving automation improvements, including Pre and Post NAV validations, utilizing SCD validation tools and other platforms. 
  • Resolving investment specific technical issues that impact the accounting results, while engaging with investment professionals, operations, and other teams as needed.
  • Resolving outstanding calculation errors, mapping, and integration configuration issues in collaboration with BT and vendors.
  • Providing input for the development of test cases and testing of system enhancements  including additional NAV/report validation tools.
  • Developing, enhancing, and implementing the Pre-NAV process such as various SCD validation tools and power BI dashboards, to detect potential errors on a Pre-NAV basis and enable corrections to be made prior to NAV run.
  • Providing oversight, support, and direction related to corrections needed to other Finance/Operations teams while maintaining effective control environment.
  • Improving system functionalities to prevent the reoccurrence of errors and/or enhance detection measures.
  • Facilitating Power BI processes and procedures development and implementation.  Identifies, researches, and resolves complex technical problems.
  • Providing input for the development of policies, and developing, implementing and maintaining procedures.
  • Providing back-up to the Manager, Investment Finance and assisting with various projects and ad hoc requests as required.

  • Strong technical capability in SimCorp Dimension and working knowledge of database querying and programming languages, is required. 
  • Good understanding of financial markets, including experience with complex investment instruments.
  • Strong academic credentials from a leading university with several years of relevant experience.
  • A team player with very strong organizational and communication skills. Ability to react and successfully balance multiple competing priorities in a dynamic, fast paced work environment, meeting schedules, deadlines, targets and goals under strict time constraints.
  • Superior problem-solving skills and strong attention to details. Proven track record of taking initiative to independently research and resolve issues.
  • The ability to advance initiatives and develop practical approaches to problem resolution and to assess and resolve complex issues quickly and accurately.
