Position Summary

AIMCo’s Business Technology Delivery team is responsible for the execution of large scale projects to support to the growing needs of both the Investment Management and Investment Operations divisions. The Business Technology team partners with various areas of the firm to provide strategic solutions for a wide range of AIMCo’s functions such as public and private investments, investment finance, operations, etc.

The Delivery team includes a strong group of Business Analysts, Project Managers, Business System Analysts, Developers and Quality Assurance Analysts, all of which are currently involved in several large development projects supporting various functions. Some of the current tasks of the team include implementation of new financial products and portfolio management strategies, large scale data onboarding, processing, systems replacements and upgrades.  

The Business Systems Analyst (Calypso) provides comprehensive application development, integration and maintenance services to support AIMCo staff members to achieve their mandates, goals and business objectives, as well as maximize the potential of available information technology applications and systems.

Functioning within a team environment and broadly defined objectives, the Business Systems Analyst contributes to applications development, maintenance and projects from planning through to implementation and client training phases. In addition to coordinating assigned projects for custom developed systems and the integration of 3rd party vendor supplied applications, this position serves as a technical and analytical resource on various teams, projects and initiatives.

As a Business System Analyst within the Business Technology Delivery team working closely with the Investment Finance team, you will work extensively in capturing and helping define business requirements across multiple stakeholders and work through challenges to address process gaps. Other accountabilities will include:

  • Provide comprehensive technical, analytical and consultative services to support development and maintenance of derivative management systems and related applications within AIMCo; provide significant interface development and architectural integration services for applications
  • Provide comprehensive application and client support services for derivative management systems and related applications used by AIMCo representatives, including first-line support, root cause analysis, training and consulting services and business resumption
  • Provide technical, analytical and consultative services for derivative management system, related applications, special projects and initiatives that address client requirements and support achievement of goals, including prototyping, assurance, technical reviews, and basic project management activities
Our Ideal Candidate
  • Degree or diploma in Business Administration, Finance, Computing Science or a related field.
  • Experience supporting Calypso or a similar derivative management system.
  • Experience and knowledge of Microsoft related programming technologies including SQL, VB.net, .Net Frameworks and Web Services.
  • Experience working in a project environment, preferably at an investment management organization.
  • Knowledge of the institutional investment management industry including derivative products is required.
  • Canadian Securities Institute (CSI), Canadian Securities Courses (CSC), CFA designations and Derivatives Fundamentals Courses will be considered an asset.
  • Experience working with J2EE, Core Java, JDBC, JSP, JUnit, XML, Eclipse, JBoss and Gradle will be considered an asset.
  • Experience with other Investment Management systems including Eagle PACE, Sylvan, SimCorp Dimensions, Charles River Trading System and LMS Loan Suite is an asset.
  • Proven problem solving skills, initiative, drive and the ability to thrive in fast-paced environment.
