Position Summary


Data Analyst provides support in completing a variety of functions relating to the day to day activities of key data applications including data validation and maintenance of investment related data. This includes performing data maintenance and all processing activities related to OTC derivatives to meet all daily workflow expectations and operational control requirements in our systems in a consistent, timely and accurate manner. This role requires active engagement in activities to identify and resolve errors, problems and inconsistencies and will provide oversight for complex administrative and operational control functions. The analyst also participates in the development, implementation and facilitation of data quality processes and data quality metrics. Other responsibilities include:
 

  • Support validation and data maintenance of security master, Reference and Market data to meet all daily operational control requirement including new setups. 
  • Complete data enrichment as required to ensure complete and accurate data for dissemination to downstream systems including investigation and research of market data source information. 
  • Coordinate resolution of data flow issues in cooperation with application support teams and drive continuous improvements. 
  • Proactively measure, monitor, prioritize and develop data quality assessment and cleansing specifications in support of assigned duties
  • Ensures all scheduling, processing and job execution requirements within Operations meet workflow expectations and all system inputs areprocessed in a timely and accurate fashion that preserves data integrity
  • Address and resolve user queries, requests and problems on a timely basis often involving cross departmental efforts and dependencies. 
  • Provide backup support within the group when required
  • Participate in ongoing assessment of operational procedures and methods within the section and recommend changes with a view to improving accuracy, efficiency and productivity 
Our Ideal Candidate
  • Undergraduate degree in Business, Mathematics or related fields
  • Experience in the investment industry, knowledge of financial markets, market data or trading life cycle is an asset
  • Understanding of relational databases, interdependencies between systems and data attributes
  • Proficiency in SQL, C++, Python, Java, Power BI and MS Suite; Excel, Access, Visio is desired
  • Ability to function with high degree of autonomy and to effectively seek guidance when issues of critical or strategic importance arise
  • Resolve issues and make decisions under strict timelines
  • Ability to perform root cause analysis involving detail-oriented, analytical problem solving and research skills being able to identify inconsistencie
  • Superior organizational skills with attention to detail to handle high volumes while maintaining efficiency and complying with stated controls
  • Independent learner with ability to think beyond basic concepts, resolve issues in a fast paced environment
