Position Summary

Reporting to the Executive Vice-President, Fixed Income, and as a member of the Fixed Income Investments Team, the Director will contribute through the day to day management and trading of fixed income portfolios, adding value in a risk controlled manner; will formulate and implement fixed income strategy for fixed income portfolios and special purpose funds; will keep abreast of current economic policies and events and make value adding investment decisions and recommendations; will assist the EVP to formulate and implement fixed income strategy for ALL fixed income and money market portfolios; and will meet with clients and the AIMCo board to educate, review and update portfolio performance investment objectives, risk tolerance and other needs and preferences, and foster positive relationships with clients.

The successful candidate will build relationships, internally and externally and will assist to build a "world-class" team to support the capability required to deliver superior risk adjusted returns for AIMCo's Fixed Income Team.

  • Organizational Skills: Plans, organizes, schedules and budgets in an efficient, productive manner. Focuses on key priorites. 
Our Ideal Candidate
  • A university degree in business, finance or other related field, coupled with a CFA designation is highly desirable. 
  • 10+ years' experience managing portfolio's with a proven track record. 
  • Experience in deals with $1 Billion+
  • Ability to add value to benchmarks
  • Securities knowledege, as well as being well versed in derivatives/swaps. 
  • Broad knowledge of financial markets and instruments. 
  • Keep abreast of current economic policies and events and make value adding investment decisions and recommendations.
  • Evaluate economic, credit and fixed income resarch from internal analysts, investment dealers and other sources. 
  • Formulate and implement fixed income strategy for fixed income portfolios and special purpose funds. 
  • Determine relative values and assess risks of fixed income instruments (all fixed income cash bonds, derivatives, futures and repo contracts). 
  • Monitor, evaluate, and implement asset allocation shifts. 
  • Evaluate daily performance results, risk budgets, preparing quarterly peformance reports and communciate with fund sponsors.
  • Execute trades of securities (all fixed income cash bonds, fixed income derivatives, futures and repo contracts).
