Position Summary

As a senior member of the Business Technology Planning & Architecture team, the Senior Data Architect provides leadership and guidance as a primary expert in defining and maintaining the data architectural frameworks, patterns, processes, standards and guidelines related to data architecture. They will also take an active role in developing and maintaining AIMCo’s logical and physical data models.

Responsibilities include:

  • Define vision, strategy and principles for data management
  • Define standards for naming, describing, governing, managing, modeling, cleansing, enriching, transforming, moving, storing, searching and delivering all data within the enterprise
  • Serve as the liaison between data consumer representatives and data solution development, integration and governance teams
  • Must understand how data is, or will be, used and implication on people, processes, products and technology
  • For new applications or changes to existing applications, the Senior Data Architect will liaise with other AIMCo application architects, solution architects and data managers to ensure application data models fit into the AIMCo Logical Data Model and adhere to the data model and metadata standards.
  • Provide technical and architectural subject matter expertise to the various department teams including communicating architectural decisions and mentoring other technical staff around the various developmental technologies and decisions.
Our Ideal Candidate
  • Degree or Masters Computing Science or a related field
  • At least 7 years of experience as a data architect at an enterprise level.
  • Experience with designing, architecting and implementing an enterprise data platform
  • Experience with data modelling tools including transaction processing, reporting and analytics
  • Experience working with reference data models
  • Proficiency in data management tools and technologies including Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle Database, NoSQL technologies.
  • Experience with schema management, application lifecycle management, data lifecycle management, XML, XSDs, JSON, SOAP, REST, SQL, etc...
  • Experience with object-oriented design principles including Continuous Integration, Application Design Patterns, Service Design Patterns, Contract First Design
  • Previous experience in the financial industry would be considered an asset (CFA designation, MBA, etc.)
