Position Summary

Product Risk Management independently identifies, analyzes, assesses and reports on the investment and non-investment risks associated with AIMCo’s investment product offering. By executing on these activities, Product Risk Management supports senior management, including the Chief Risk Officer and the Chief Investment Officer, and portfolio managers by communicating and consulting on product level risk in a holistic manner.

Product Risk Management is organized along asset class lines, consisting of three teams dedicated to AIMCo’s main asset classes: Public Equity, Fixed Income, Private Equity, Private Income and Real Estate. AIMCo is currently searching for a Senior Analyst dedicated to the Fixed Income asset class.

Responsibilities will include:

 

  • Identifying, analyzing, assessing, and reporting on the investment and non-investment risks and risk-adjusted returns within the asset class in accordance with relevant policies and methodologies.
  • Identifying the risks of new instrument types and strategies within the asset class including model recommendations and impact on portfolio composition.
  • Identifying and communicating the risks associated with large, illiquid investments in their asset class from both asset and portfolio perspectives.
  • Providing analysis used to guide the selection and monitoring of counterparties in terms of impact to the assigned asset class.
  • Assessing risk measurement methodology and identifying enhancements in risk measurement on an ongoing basis.
  • Designing, implementing and producing regular product risk reports, including writing of commentary, to portfolio managers and senior management.
  • Preparing official risk management opinions on product mandates that effectively represent client risk objectives and enable portfolio managers to ensure that risk is properly identified and controlled.
Our Ideal Candidate
  • Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative discipline (e.g. Finance, Economics, Financial Mathematics, Computer Science) with an excellent GPA from a top-tier institution. Post-graduate degree (Masters) is preferred.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years’ relevant risk, public equity or fixed income asset class experience.
  • Completion or enrolment in CFA/FRM/PRM program.
  • High level of proficiency in Excel, VBA, SQL.
  • Strong knowledge of institutional structure of financial markets.
  • Strong understanding of finance theory and quantitative techniques, as applied to portfolio construction, optimization, simulation, risk modeling and derivatives.
  • Experience with vendor systems is preferred: Bloomberg, Captial IQ, Factset, MSCI Barra.
  • Must show initiative and the ability to quickly grasp new concepts; driven and results oriented.
  • Attention to detail, prioritization and organizational skills required.
