Position Summary

The Economist, Financial Markets would work closely with financial market-oriented AIMCo team members and has primary responsibility for economic research and commentary. The economist would develop presentations to stakeholders, coordinate external economic research provided to AIMCo, maintain a research agenda and coordinate research topics within AIMCo.

Our Ideal Candidate

•A Masters in Economics or closely related field is required
•A Phd in Economics or related field is preferred
•Minimum 3 to 5 years’ experience is required with a preference for experience within the financial / investment industry
•Knowledge of econometric modeling
•Experience or knowledge of an economic forecasting tool is preferred such as IHS Global Insight or Oxford Economics is preferred
•Knowledge of accessing market data such as use of Bloomberg, DataStream, or central bank data
•Knowledge and interest in financial markets including investment vehicles such as derivatives instruments, fixed income securities, equities and private investments
•Some computing skills such as with MS Excel, VBA for Excel, R, or Matlab
•CFA designation is preferred
•Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, commitment to deliverables and process and the ability to work cooperatively
