Position Summary

The Trade Support and Reconciliations department are responsible for providing financial and administrative support to the public investment management teams at AIMCo. The group handles the operational functions for the public investment asses classes including Public Equities, Fixed Income, Money Market, Foreign Exchange and Futures securities.

As the Quality Assurance Analyst, you will be responsible for daily payment reconciliation of AIMCo’s Investment Accounting system (SimCorp Dimension) to the external bank's SWIFT files to ensure the accurate and timely recording of all approved investment transactions.You will investigate unreconciled items and confirm with third parties and internal clients to ensure investment information is complete, accurate and authorized. 

Other responsibilities include:

 

  • Verify and reconcile daily payment activity between AIMCo’s Investment Accounting system (SimCorp Dimension) and its external bank’s Swift messages to ensure all investment transactions including trades, corporate action transactions, income activity, maturities and redemptions have been completely and accurately recorded in AIMCo’s book of record.
  • Reconciliation of asset position information between SimCorp Dimension and third parties (Bridgewater, Merrill Lynch, Goldman Sachs, Trust, State Street, TD, RBC and Morgan Stanley) 
  • Monitor and reconcile all of the approximately 36 position and transaction reconciliations in place between AIMCo’s Investment Accounting system and its partner systems such as Charles River Trading System, Loan Management System, Calypso (OTC derivatives trading platform) and Eagle PACE (data warehouse).
  • Following up on all reconciling items to ensure system accuracy and completeness.
  • Following up on the daily and monthly processes for QA and ensuring completion of tasks in a timely manner.
  • Ensure that the daily checklists and controls are completed accurately.
  • Responsible for following up with internal and external client requests.
  • Ensure the organizational goals and team goals are aligned and followed to achieve optimum results.
Our Ideal Candidate
  • Undergraduate degree in Business, Finance or accounting and three years of related experience in the investment industry.
  • Post graduate training in financial markets or investments (Canadian Securities Course, CFA, etc).
  • Solid analytical ability to identify reasons for reconciling differences and determine best course of action to correct.
  • Basic knowledge of SimCorp Dimensions investment accounting system is an asset.
  • In-depth knowledge of current industry settlement practices and procedures plus familiarity with various types of investment products.
  • Ability to work independently, solve problems and make decisions under strict time deadlines to avoid loss of opportunity costs claimed due to failed or incorrect settlement transactions.
  • Superior organizational skills allowing timeliness of processing entries to meet deadlines (internal and external) relating to settlement and performance activity.

Final candidates will be asked to undergo a security screening, which includes a credit bureau and a criminal record investigation, the results of which must be acceptable to AIMCo.
