Position Summary

As the Analyst, Collateral Management, you will be responsible for assisting the Collateral Management team’s daily operations and initiatives including counterparty risk management, liquidity operations, securities lending analysis and settlement operations. You will work closely with the Senior Manager, Collateral Management to analyze complex, firm-wide collateral metrics in the development of collateral management models and counterparty risk measures.

As the collateral functionality continues to broaden within the organization, you will be involved in continually looking for new ways to gain efficiencies and improve processes within the department. These efficiencies will be developed through involvement in new and current projects, providing back-up support to Senior Analysts and through strong knowledge of investment instruments, programming skills and organizational experience.

Other responsibilities will include:

  • Calculating net exposure and managing the inventory of all collateral positions with counterparties
  • Responding to and initiating margin calls with counterparties for all margin-based strategies including CSAs, Repos and Futures
  • Effectively executing collateral approachesd such as re-hypothecation, optimization and substitution
  • Booking and reconciliation of collateral trades into the Collateral Management Module
  • Development, implementation, management and enhancement of collateral reporting
  • Act as the subject matter expert and first point of contact on the collateral management application
  • Participate in negotiations with brokers regarding acceptable collateral
  • Monitor proxy voting and corporate actions as it relates to collateral and securities lending
Our Ideal Candidate
  • Undergraduate degree in Finance, Statistics or a related field is required
  • Knowledge of investment concepts, practices, analysis and product types (futures, short-selling, derivatives, repo, equity finance, etc.)
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Excel, VBA and SQL
  • Programming experience and working knowledge of Calypso would be considered an asset
  • Working towards attaining the CFA designation would be considered an asset
  • Ability to work well independently and in a team environment
  • Strong communication skills and focus on attention to detail
